Season 6 of Line of Duty Returns to BBC iPlayer

Line of Duty BBC iPlayer

We’ve updated this page just to make sure it’s up to date.  The good news is that every episode of Line of Duty is currently (June 2023) available on BBC iPlayer for free.  It looks like they should be there for some time because at present they’re all listed as ‘available for more than a year’ which is great news.

If you love dramas especially crime and mystery ones, then the BBC is hard to beat. Just recently we’ve had The Bodyguard, Killing Eve, Normal People and Doctor Foster to just name a few. It’s hard to remember a really bad BBC drama, almost all that the BBC produces offers real quality. It looks like 2023 is going to be no exception, despite the previous pandemic issues, production has been adapted and there’s some brilliant shows which will be released this year.

One of the most eagerly awaited is the new season of Line of Duty which has reached its six series. The latest seven-part series (one more episode than normal) is scheduled to be released on the 21st of March, although you can of course watch it anytime after on BBC iPlayer in France with a VPN (well probably 12 months).

Here’s a sneak peek with the trailer –

In a sometimes-saturated genre, Line of Duty ranks as many people’s as possible favourite police show. It will be broadcast on the prime slow of Sunday evening at 9:00PM in the UK for those who actually watch their TV shows live! All the main characters return – Vicky McClure returns as DI Kate Fleming, Martin Compston plays DS Steve Arnor and Adrian Dunbar is the guy calling the shots as Superintendent Ted Hastings.

The series follows on from the previous ones, with the hunt for the mysterious ‘H’ – the bent copper that nobody can seem to pinpoint. Such is the show’s popularity there’s plenty of theories all over the internet. Indeed, on Reddit currently there’s an intriguing one that it’s some sort of female cabal trying to overthrow the male dominated leadership. The trailer above perhaps the inspiration for that line of thinking.

In the last series, we all briefly thought Superintendent Ted Hastings was the mastermind. However, it later turned out he was framed by the organized crime syndicate’s corrupt solicitor. There are loads of other unanswered questions though as well as the identity of ‘H’ carried over from the previous series. Indeed, others have suggested that there is no actual single ‘H’ but it’s just a codeword for the group as a whole.

If you’ve never watched Line of Duty, then it’s well worth watching. You can currently catch all the previous five series on BBC iPlayer too, all free of charge. If you’re not in the United Kingdom just check out one of the BBC iPlayer VPN instruction pages on this site – it’s easy and well worth the small subscription cost.

I for one can’t wait!!
