What is the plot of Shetland Season 7?
The new season of Shetland is set to resume production in early 2022 and is expected to air later that year. The seventh season will again follow the lives of the residents of the remote Scottish island of Shetland, as they deal with crime, love, and loss.
This series will actually be Henshall’s last outing as DI Perez after spending over ten years in what’s now become an iconic role. Perez’s last investigation involves discovering something of the secret past of a family new to Shetland, who pose a huge, unexpected threat to the Island community.
It is hoped and expected that the latest series will also tie up some loose ends from previous series as well as entertaining us with new mysteries.

The upcoming season of Shetland will as previous series feature a total of 6 hour long episodes. You can watch them live or they will be on BBC iPlayer for 12 months afterwards. How did Shetland Season 6 end?
The sixth season of the show concluded with a two-part episode that left fans on the edge of their seats. In the final moments, we see DI Jimmy Perez (played by Douglas Henshall) finally catch the serial killer who has been terrorizing the island for years. However, just as he is about to make the arrest, the killer escapes and is last seen driving off in a car. It is not yet known how the seventh season will pick up from this cliff hanger ending.
What can we expect from Shetland Season 7?
More wonderful scenery, a great story and just wonderful entertainment. Season Seven is also the last chance to see Douglas Henshall play DC Perez as he’s announced that he’s leaving the show after this series. Rumours suggest that there will be a series 8 but obviously without DC Perez.
